1. AI grades are indicative only
Gradeio uses artificial intelligence to generate indicative marks and feedback for Irish Leaving Certificate examination responses. These grades are produced by large language models and are intended as a formative teaching aid — they are not official grades, official assessments, or a substitute for the judgement of a qualified teacher or examiner.
The State Examinations Commission (SEC) is the sole body responsible for the official assessment and certification of Leaving Certificate examinations in Ireland. Gradeio has no affiliation with, endorsement from, or authorisation by the SEC.
2. AI can and does make errors
Large language models can misread handwritten mathematics, misidentify which marking-scheme band applies, or produce inconsistent results across runs. Every grade produced by Gradeio should be reviewed by a qualified teacher before being communicated to a student or recorded in any official context. You accept this responsibility when you use the service.
3. No reliance for high-stakes decisions
Gradeio grades must not be used as the sole basis for any high-stakes decision — including but not limited to: predicted grades, CAO points estimates, school reports, or decisions about academic progression. Any such use is at the sole risk of the user.
4. Marking scheme copyright
Official Leaving Certificate marking schemes are the intellectual property of the State Examinations Commission. Gradeio references publicly available marking scheme PDFs solely to provide a grading service to teachers. We do not reproduce or distribute marking scheme content beyond what is necessary for that purpose.
5. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. See our Terms of Use for the full limitation of liability.
6. External links
Gradeio may contain links to third-party websites (e.g. educateplus.ie, examinations.ie). These are provided for convenience only. We have no control over their content and accept no responsibility for them.
